BookJetty is a social network for book lovers that allows users to check books’ availability in libraries. It currently links up with over 300 libraries from 11 countries, i.e. Singapore, US, UK, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and others.

BookJetty started off as a quick hack in 2006 to simply allow users to browse Amazon catalog and check if books are available in the National Library Board Singapore (NLB) at the same time.

Over time it has grown to allow users to catalog and tag their books, keeping track of books they have read, want to read or are currently reading. Users are also able to submit book reviews, comment on reviews, login with Facebook or Twitter account and share their bookshelf updates with friends on Facebook or Twitter.

Access to the NLB catalog is enabled through NLB’s web services. Today, BookJetty is a popular service with more than 6,000 signed up, most of whom Singaporean users.
