Speaking at the recent MCI Workplan Seminar, the National Library Board’s CEO, Mrs Elaine Ng, talked about how NLB connects “people to people, people to knowledge and people to country”. Those present were given sneak peeks of the long-awaited Orchard library and revamped Sembawang library, the new early literacy library at Jurong Regional Library, as well as up and coming services such as NLB Mobile and Books on the Move.

Clik here to view.To promote One Search, a one-stop search service that searches content across both NLB and NAS websites, which will be launched later this year, guests were also treated to screenings of rare, vintage videos from the our archives, including one of Singapore’s first music videos featuring the winners of 1967’s Talentime, the Singing Trio, and the courtesy campaign: Courtesy begins with you and me!

Clik here to view.NLB Mobile, a new mobile app due to be launched by end of 2014, will allow patrons to use their smartphones and tablets to borrow books right off the shelf, just by scanning their barcodes. outside the library, users will be able to check their library books’ due dates and renew them immediately. Other features include allowing multiple library accounts on one device, catalogue search and personalised book recommendations.
